I bought it to use with my ASUS ZenBook. It comes with two USB cables. One for the data and one that connects to a power port. I was disappointed the moment I opened the box because I thought I had read somewhere that it only needed one cable. You see, the ZenBook has one USB 2.0 and one 3.0. That's it. So I do not want to use all the USB ports to power a BD drive. Well, I plugged the drive into the USB 3.0 port because that port has more power available without changing any settings. It worked! I read from a mini-CD, wrote to a DVD-R, and played a Blu-ray movie. The sliding tray is a little stiff and doesn't always pop out right away, but has not been any real problem. The drive is about as Plain Jane as you can get: squat square black box. I gave it 5 stars for value and the fact that it does work just fine. Keep in mind that I have only used it this one day. The product works but sometimes it turns off and is a pain to turn back on and you can't use the eject button either on the device or on the mac when that happens as it has powered down. Occasionally you can here the fan but that only bothers me when a movie isn't playing. Also, the device can be difficult to close at first until you figure out you have to use a consistent amount of moderate pressure to close the bay. Other than that, it is a great deal for a portable blu ray player.
