This is a great drive. It's light and small enough to carry with me daily. I have burnt several disks and have yet to create a coaster. The lightscribe feature is wonderful and the quality of the labels it creates is incredibly high. The included software works well.
The only complaints that I have are that the included usb cable is painfully short. The two usb heads are so close together that I cannot plug them both in. Fortunately my laptop only needs single usb port to power the drive, so I replaced the cable with a standard mini-usb cable I had lying around. The drive also eats battery life on my laptop, but that is to be expected.

I Haven't used it much. It works great, compact, and has lightscribe. I am not sure about DL writing capabilities yet. There are two cables and one is designated power supply. So it should take up two USB Slots. If it had one cable I would give it a five. That said, I have used it without the power supply USB cable and it works just fine as a reader. I am guessing it needs extra power for Lightscribe, or DL burning. Very compact and great for mobile recording studio projects! I would definately recommend!

However, upon setup I found that audio response was very poor ~ next to no response from my subwoofer, and all low-end sound seemed to be filtered out. First off, I'm a techie, and not afraid to experiment with *any* computer device. So, when I couldn't get this to work (yes, I read the directions!), I had to scour the web and discovered that the hot key sequence as described in the documentation (Ctrl-Alt-Shift) does NOT tell you that you need to hit AND RELEASE all keys in sequence. From the other reviews, I'm not the only user who had trouble discovering this anomaly, but now that I have it working, I suggest that you approach the key sequence as follows: tap and release the ctrl key, then the alt key, and finally the shift key, and you should see the Caps Lock and Scroll Lock lights alternate. Then, tap the number key for the computer you wish to access.
So, while this works well, the documentation needs to be fixed.

Terrible product and poor design! I tried everything to make this switch to work with no success. I then called technical support and they couldn't get it to work either. As for design at the connector hub, inputs are to close causing fittings to be cramped and bent. I had to force all connectors: video,keyboard,mouse,& audio to fit properly.
This will be going back!
Update! Got my replacement and finally got it to work. After going back checking all the cables and spending time playing with it. The trick to make it work is to press all four keys CTrL,ALT,SHIFT then the computer # (1,2,3,or 4) rapid & exactly in order. Try doing this a few times to get a feel for it. This worked for me.
I give it a low rating for the trouble and poor intructions by the manual and tech support.
Upgrade to 3 STARS for the design flaw.

I have ordered several of these KVM switches to use in my office. I've used them for a few years and they still work great. They with the monitors with 1920x1200 resolution. The only thing I had to do was converting VGA cable to the DisplayPort since the new computers now come DisplayPort or HDMI. It's very easy to set up. You have to buy cables and power supply separate though.

I use this switch to handle a 3rd monitor that runs in conjunction with an excellent IO Gear Switch. I was skeptical of StarTech because I had owned a dual DVI switch of theirs that had much worse interference on shared audio then IOGEAR's professional switch did (albeit the IO Gear was over $120 more).
At any rate, for a one monitor switch I find this does a great job. Like most switches, be careful about your mouse, most complex mice have issues but a tip I can give from being a many computer owner and user of many KVM (IOGEAR/ATEN/STARTECH) the USB Hub that comes with them will often handle your complex mouse, it's just the mouse port will not. Same for IOGear and ATEN . The hubs tend to handle a wireless super-type mouse, while the mouse port pukes on it.
