I was planning to play Blu Ray movies with this drive. I couldn't care less about the DVD burning feature, I was only looking at playing movies. First (and as is normal with other drives) you need to buy a software player, so plan on spending %59 to $100 for a blu ray software player such as WinDVD, PowerDVD or MediaTheater. Second, and this was the hard part, the drive didn't came with the latest firmware, and the Phillips reference did not help at all.
1) This drive doesn't state what brand it is 2) You will not be able to find references in Google that point to a firmware update 3) No reviews or places to learn about the firmware issues for this model
Anyway, it's a Lite On drive, and while the drive is not listed there's an utility that is able to detect the drive, check for the latest firmware, update the firmware automatically (and check for upgrades from time to time)[...]

It is what it says it is. A plug-and-play external drive that'll read CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays. I haven't really put it to the test, but I did plug it in and made sure it'd read a Blu-ray, which it definitely did.
It comes with a generic CD-R with a trial version of some Blu-ray playback software, which I haven't and probably won't install. The front piece on the drive I recieved is very poorly attached to the tray. The right side isn't connected at all, which makes it easy to accidentally bend it back when pulling the tray out. Due to the fact that the right side isn't connected, it can also become somewhat misaligned with the drive vertically, making it difficult to close the tray. Lastly, the outside of the drive smells like cigarette smoke.
If you need a cheap, portable Blu-ray drive, this drive works. I wouldn't expect it to hold up for very long though.

Worked Friday. Worked Saturday. Worked Sunday. Quit some time Sunday night. Dead on Monday - does not spin.
I can hear the head stepper working. It communicates with the computer ('Eject' does.) But it does *not* spin - an essential aspect.
Came with no software but I need none and expected none. I do expect more than 48 hrs product lifetime.
Amazon's shipping was fast - I hope they are as quick processing my refund. I've had very poor results with this type of drive in both BluRay and regular DVD versions. Hate to spend the $200+ it seems to take to get something reliable, but I'd rather do that once than spend $75 three times...
***Update*** Refund was prompt and painless.

This KVM works well. It's simple and easy to set up. To address some of the other reviews on this product, I've had no issues waking up my PCs out of standby and it hasn't yet locked up on me. Nor have I found any issues with regards to video. Note that there is no audio support and no switching supported via key presses (you have to press the button on the unit itself). That said, it's a cheap, reliable product that does its job well.
One caution though... take note that this product uses only 1 USB plug for each computer that it's hooked up with. Thus, it serves as a type of 2-port hub. This is very convenient in one sense, as it doesn't hog up your available USB ports. You just have to be sure that the port has enough power for the switch (which does light up when your computer is on), your keyboard, and the mouse. We bought this KVM to switch between two Dell PCs, one Optiplex GX620 and the other an older Optiplex model number unknown. It seemed like exactly what we needed, a nice, simple switch with a big button and no special key sequences required to switch between two machines that share a single monitor, USB keyboard and USB mouse.
Unfortunately it doesn't work reliably. Sure, it will switch a few times, maybe even a dozen, before locking up but for us it ALWAYS locked up eventually. When it does the keyboard and mouse are left in an unpowered state leaving you only one option - a hard reset of the computer. Removing and replacing the cable to force a USB enumeration does not help. Sometimes even the video goes dead.
To IOGear's credit their tech support is easy to reach and answered the phone quickly. The people there seemed knowledgeable about their products but they had no suggestions that could resolve the KVM problems and finally suggested that we return it for a... Read more

As far as switching between 2 PCs are concerned, the product works.
However... this model combines mouse and keyboard into single output plug -- I'm not sure if this is a good idea. Yes, it frees up an extra USB port on the PC. But in my experience, all the other USB ports on the PC are rendered unusable. I'm using a powered USB hub, a flash drive and a printer plugged separately into 3 open USB ports -- all were unrecognizable. After unplugging the KVM switch, they all work fine.
Note: the GCS42UW6 does not include audio port or remote switch, and no hot keys.
